DTSG Resolved Three Years Lingering Disputes Between Heritage Energy And OML 30 Landlords

The disputes between Heritage Energy Operational Services Limited, HESOL, operators of OML 30 and host Landlords over rent increment and expired leases, have been resolved by the Delta State Government.

The State Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Hon (Chief) Peter Uviejitobor who presided over a mediation meeting with the indigenous oil firm and OML 30 landlords in his office in Asaba, expressed happiness over return of peace between the parties.

Hon Uviejitobor directed the company to ensure that the demand of the host Landlords over rent increment be paid with effect from January, 2025, while urging the people to always give peace a chance.

The Commissioner also asked the company to speed up the verification process on the expired lease for quick resolution of that aspect of the matter and the follow up payments.

He commended both the company and representatives of the OML 30 landlords for their patience and commitment to peaceful resolution of the issues, stressing that no business can thrive in an atmosphere of rancor

Uviejitobor stated that the Ministry of Oil and Gas is committed to resolving related disputes among all interests in the oil and gas sector in the state to enhance peace, security and prosperity within host communities.

He said “Delta State Government through the Ministry of Oil and Gas will continue to collaborate with relevant stakeholders and security agencies to resolve any other lingering issues mitigating against peace, stability and sustainable oil production in the state.

“It is the desire of the State to maintain its leading position as the highest oil producing state in Nigeria. Delta state is today the most peaceful and safest state in the country to doing business and His Excellency, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori is committed to achieving more in that regard.

“I therefore urge all stakeholders in the oil and gas industry to continue to support the state government in enhancing peace and security in the sector in line with the Renewed Hope for MORE agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori”, Uviejitobor added.

Representatives of both the oil firm and host landlords, expressed confidence in the state government to resolving the concerns of the parties and pledged to continue to collaborate for enduring peace and harmony in the locality.
